Gishu [Lugisu (Gishu): dialect of Masaba]
Walumbe (singer, male, limoi 2 string tube-fiddle), unidentified (iron hoop)
Wachsmann, Klaus, 1907-1984
Item notes : Wachsmann's original recording no.: 54.539. English translation from available documentation: "if I had power I would be moving about with my spear - if I was strong I would avoid death / whether you are a fool or what, the time will come when you are in your grave". Performer notes : From available documentation: the iron hoop makes a kind of triangle sound. It was explained that 1-stringed fiddles were called 'shiriri' and had been brought by the Swahili and 2-stringed fiddles are 'limoi' and come from North Nyanza (the limoi is said to imitate the accordion).
