    (20) Kobom's signature tune Damu, leading to Nandomme polbili sebsevieli wul nibe, dome gyiele eh, wuorye, yare, yare yahweh eh. Lit: The young people of Nandom do very good dancing and show the public, the enemies begin to spy on them, they cannot do anything to us. Meaning: Other people may be jealous of our dancing ability and spy on us, but it can't do us any harm. Notes: A bɛwaa song, but also recorded at Biligau being used in Gombe (21) Nandomme Naa yela ye maali, maali, maali and Sebro bambala wele, sebro naa nang be wa. plus Fuu wa ter pog sig-kpe. (dance). Lit: The Nandom Naa is saying come together, come together, come together. It is good to unite together and contribute to build up the place. Meaning: The chief of Nandom has called on people to come together to build. Notes: Written by the Nandom Sekpere group to publicise the advice which Polkkuu was always giving. (22) Pogbe yaga Nandom daa puo. and Kpaa ngmaa pogmole ben Tuopare and Langme nye bong kuu b uole biir be wa. Lit: Women plenty Nandom in the market (repeat) Beautiful, beautiful, black, black, nice figure[not fat, not too slim], nice figure. Meaning: You can find a good wife in Nandom market. Notes: Song appears in many places with other towns/villages instead of Nandom. Probably around 1963. (23) Poglinokpagr nu wo zangkpana, wo zangkpana plus Pogle na minminmin pogle na kyen ke ber me (dance). Lit: A girl who argues has spots on her skin, spots on her skin (repeated), Your forehead long, long, long, long end of the forehead. Meaning: A girl would not take the advice she was offered, she always argued. When she developed a skin rash she was insulted for it, together with her long forehead. Notes: 1960's. The idea for the song came from Bangnido and Ambaa contributed the tune. During the group's journeys to different places the boys and girls would be mocking each other. This song was the result. (24) N maa wo na wa kume buule. N yi yeng ti seb bewaa. Lit: Oh mother, come and give me the jingles. I will go out and dance bewaa. Notes: Old song. From Tom. - Kuu wo, kuu woye, kuu wo, kuu wo-o, Naangmin tome ne a le. Lit: Death, so many deaths (repeated), death, deaths are surprising, God work all. Meaning: I am surprised there are so many deaths, but it is all God's work. Notes: Around 1970. - Kuu na waari, kuu na waari pogle. Lit: Death is coming, death is coming girl. The people of Nandom sugar because of it. Meaning: If you are a girl and go chasing sweet things, death will come to you. Notes: Early 1970's. - Bayeluma mimi ya ya, me nyenga kele nyenga, ko wa. Lit: Bayeluma (woman's name from Bekuone clan) has got so many eyes, you see this one, and you see this one again, you should come. Meaning: Bayeluma has a roving eye and will flirt and come if anyone calls. Notes: Old song - Nkrumah's time. Composed by Sangnuo Borro from the old chief's palace (25) Timbe langne, timbe langne, yee. Pog buno kong kyen kula. Lit: I won't pair with you, I won't pair with you, no. Woman who will not go for water. Meaning: We will not cooperate or work together. You will not do your fair share. Notes: The second part of the song plus a ho-ho-ya-ho response is also used separately. Written by the Nandom group according to Bangnido. Nandom wanted its own administration district separate from Lawra to whom they were joined at the time, but you can't say that directly in song. So the song was composed about 2 wives not wanting to share a husband, but intending a wider meaning. The song continues to be apposite to the chieftaincy dispute in Nandom etc. (26) Gbulu Danaa in youri n ngmaadaa yuori. Lit: Gbulu Danaa (name of Kyiir great grandfather of Naa {& Kobom} from Nandom palace) his name is like the name of the male monkey. Even if he is not there, talk will be about him. Meaning: Wherever Danaa goes people are talking about him, chattering like the male monkey. Notes: Old song from British time. (27) Nandomme biiri ni yangme korkor. Lit: The people of Nandom large population, The enemies pass through and destroy all of them, death, death, death. Meaning: Death comes to everyone. although Nandom has a large population everyone will die at some time. The dancers would be singing, smiling and waving while singing "Death". The song was in memory of one of the group, Kuim Dzang, who was a very good dancer and had recently died although still a pupil at Nandom Secondary school. Notes: Slow bewaa. February 1970. Composed by Bangnido? and used as the exit song for many performances. (28) Kolaperbir, gyaakol nyog me ob. Lit: Cat's buttocks, the mouse has caught and eaten. Meaning: Refers to a Dagara legend. The cat and mouse could not agree so set out for different parts of the forest. The area that the mouse found was good, but the cat had an area with no water. One day the cat was asleep under a tree, its mouth full of flies, when the mouse crept up and bit its buttocks. The wound festered and the cat died. Moral: don't pick on someone you think is weak. Notes: First heard in Accra in 1967. Dagaare song composed by Saale (who is now dead) in the early 1960's. The original version was much simpler than the current one and only used a few different bars on the gyil. Also adapted into Lobi by Kakraba Lobi (29) Pogkuor buolini zimaani aa-nng. Lit: Unmarried woman that you call when the sun is down, I'm happy. Meaning: If you want to spend time with an unmarried woman you must call her in the evening when she has finished her work and can spend time with you. Notes: Old song. Composed by Kyella Antare from Antare house, who died many years ago. The boys in the Sekpere group used to call out to their girlfriends when they finished work etc. and Kyella brought this song out at the end of one rehearsal, much to their amusement. (30) Puo yele yee nie kung bang. Lit: Your secret within you, nobody would know. Meaning: If you keep your secrets to yourself other people can't know them. Notes: A song from Jirapa. - Be mone saab be mone saab be kure nuure. Lit: You don't make TZ, you don't make TZ, don't kill chickens. Bekuone Maria makes TZ then kills a chicken for soup. Meaning: When you make TZ you don't need to kill a chicken as you don't eat chicken with TZ. Maria from the Bekuone clan doesn't know how to cook. When she has made TZ she goes to kill a chicken for soup - but only men are allowed to kill chickens. - Be yele ni a fu yele, nga mi zi i a nuor me gong buol and Dekuor saablaa bero, saablaa. Lit: They are talking about you and somebody sit down with mouth like a kapok fruit. When they are talking you are also talking. Meaning: People are talking about you and some of them have mouths as long as the kapok fruit. But you are as bad as them. Notes: 1970's?. - N yang buwaala nu yeri sor. Lit: Your sweet lover she has travelled. I went and brought her, your sweet lover has come. Notes: Song also used as dance. From Tom.
