    [*Peter Kennedy's notes transcribed verbatim from the original tape box*] When Adam was first created.- wi' my courtin' coat on' (3 verses - about [0'50"].- Stories about courting and walking.- Song about Alan made by Dr. Eaton.- Story about rescuing dog.- Miles Wilson (unaccomp), Cockermouth 31.8.59.- Talk "the evening that we..." story about [1'30"] followed by good talk about making songs - total about 7 mins.- Song: The Ullswater pack - about Joe Bowman (Ws. comp. Skelton of Ambleside). Slow down speed during song. Gives name of composer at end. Speed OK. again at start.- Song*: Joe Bowman. with horn & dogs barking [3'15"] slow down slightly during song. (*Sung with accordion on next tape). [Quality note: recording mainly in right channel, crackle and wow and flutter throughout. Speeds up near end most likely due to battery failure of recording device.]

The speed fluctuations on this recording are on the original. See the note at approx. 16.15 at which point Kennedy describes the problems he's having with the machine.

Seems to be a problem with fluctuating speeds in this recording - particularly speeding up. Is this on the original, to do with this audio copy ... or my computer (just ordinary PC)? Sue
