Description
Item note: PCUG97.1.26: Chant. PCUG97.1.27-8: Ikoce dance song [Ikoce is a popular men's exhibition dance throughout Lango. This is the competitition season so group is well practiced. A Tuned drum chime provides accompaniment. One drummer plays on a semi-circle of drums while singing the meldoies and playing them on the drums. A second drummer plays on two high-pitched drums only an unchanging accompanying pattern. Men dance a leaping and stamping dance in lines]. Recording note: Recordings were made with a Sony DAT Walkman model TCD - D8 (kindly loaned by the School of Scottish Studies) machine and a matching single point stereo microphone (Sony ECM 959A which PC purchased shortly before his visit began). Recordist's note: NB. in Peter Cooke's notes this is: PCUG97.1.26 / PCUG97.1.27 / PCUG97.1.28.
