Item note: Held in the "x-ray hut". Performance note: One of baswezi goes into trance after use of rattle. Cooke is asked for token money in the basket - someone else provides it and session continues. Posessed medium speaking in a quiet but tense falsetto. Medium is questioned by another omuswezi. Left hand of medium shakes for most of the time. Rattle used again. Medium is posessed by the god Kayiggwa. Session ends and as members go out of the hut the medium comes rapidly out of trance state. Some unidentified talk between woman and man following trance session while dancing and singing begins. Discussion of medicines? Others describe the properties of their medicines. Performer's note: Members of Uganda Herbalists and Cultural Association. Recording note: Some crackle on tape. Tape runs out before end. Recordist's note: In Peter Cooke's notes, this is PCUG88.13.5 - 13.6.
