Description
Item note: Tuning of: a. Soga Embaire xylophone; b. Soga Budongo lamellophone; c. Acholi Nanga zither; d. Ganda endongo lyre; e. fiddle played by Mr. Kizza; f. other fiddle; g. panpipes; h. flute [not very willing]. Performer's note: Both are Ganda. Other performers are Soga, Ganda and Acholi members and so this is slightly different melodically and in the drumming from a typical performance by pure Ganda musicians; there is some flutter tonguing in the flute part. Recording note: Recorded during a visit to the National Theatre to record the National Ensemble of the "Heartbeat of Africa" troupe. Recordist's note: In Peter Cooke's notes, this is on TAPE PC 16, TRACK A, item no. 5.
