Peter Cooke Uganda Recordings
Mutiti, Bundibugyo, Bwamba, Uganda
Item note: Traditional Konzo Eluma song. Performance note: This recording features 12 end-blown stopped reed pipes with no finger holes; three drums all beaten with sticks (same kind of rhythm as nyamulere song style). Some of the team wore orange and green uniform with strips of cloth stitched on to ordinary shirts and shorts. Others wore grasses around waist. Two dancers with leg bells on right leg. Same kind of dance step as for nyamulere. Row of girls joined in the dance encircling the men. Flute players mostly stationary and mostly bent forward in a crouch. Performer's note: A family of Banyangara clan of Mutiti. Recordist's note: In Peter Cooke's notes, this is on TAPE PC 11, TRACK A, item no. 13.
