African harmony: *@0:01 The flute player suggests harmony by alternating between broken dyads and an arrpegio, then he/she plays an improvised line. This improivsed line is alternated with broken dyads in the form of hocket. This is inherent patterning. broken parallel dyads serve the same purpose as block parallel dyads. They are a harmonic device. Thus even monophonic instruments play harmonically. *Guitar is feignt, although the progression seems to be a V-I. This progression in itself contains parallelism. The bottom note acts as a pedal note or in the case of this song a bordon. The upper to voices move in parallel back and forth. Thus, even using what would appear to be european chords, the application still is well aligned with traditional africna harmonic principles. *essentially the V-I progression in the inverision played here is the application of parallel dyads over a pedal note. *Chorus uses homophonic parallelism, applying the span process to a mxylodian scalar source.
