Perophone Pixie Grippa portable gramophone
14 Frow 1988
Lockwood Manufactoring Co.
This British portable of the mid 1920s has the standard feature of using a simple well in the motorboard as a horn aperture. Unusually, there is also an auxiliary horn connected to the back of the soundbox. Perophone was a brand name of the Lockwood Manufacturing Company, a maker player pianos and piano rolls. It was not a durable gramophone brand. Unusually for a miniature portable of this size it was possible to play 12 inch discs by sliding the whole motorboard forward. Dimensions: Width: 280 mm Depth: 245 mm Turntable diameter: 150 mm
