Morrison, Sharon, 1956- (female)
Sharon met John as a 19 year old and describes it as a 'coup de foudre'. They were together for 24 years until she divorced him because of his alcoholism. She and the children remained in the family home while he moved up the road and remained close to them all. In 2004, while Sharon was undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer, John had a heart attack and died in hospital with Sharon at his side. She says she still feels like she is married to John and wanted to have a conversation with him in order to 'unmarry' him and move on with her life.
The Listening Project conversations collectively form a picture of our lives and relationships today. Recordings were made by BBC producers of people sharing an intimate conversation, lasting up to an hour and on a topic of the speakers' choice.
