    Part 14: Tape 9 Side A. Lived in Stamford Hill where sister lived in UK. Came to Victoria station by train after the boat. Remembers being stared at. Lived in the house where the landlord was Jewish. Stayed in the flat with her sister Jerry (J). Describes house layout. Describs wedding. Shared a bathroom in the house and there was a gas meter to put tuppence in a meter for a bath. Describes shared house. Recalls not being allowed to rent flats from English people. Describes missing Caribbean. Describes first work in UK. Met husband in 1957. Prior to this BG was in a relationship and was engaged. Explains why engagement called off. Met husband Len (LG) at a party. Describes courting LG and wedding. When she arrived in UK started working in a factory in ‘the rag trade.’ Started work the day after she arrived. Describes pay and conditions.
