    Part 17 (tape 9 side A): Tries here to explain why de Zoete's name kept - why not a completely new name. Rivalries on Stock Exchange - motivation - bonus system - individual interest rather than group loyalty. ND's memories of 1987 crash - associated with the great hurricane in October 1987 un UK. Says crash seemed to originate in North America but thinks UK was root cause of problem - too much capital - therapeutic effect of shock - market now in better shape. Talks about rebuilding of confidence in BZW and of profit base - change in '91, 92, due to Barclays injecting series of businesses in BZW - now 7,500 people involved. About prospective move to Canary Wharf (to Cabot Square) - 600.000 square feet so whole of BZW (london) under one roof. Describes Ebbgate House where firm is at time of interview - the problems and disadvantages - Canary Wharf will be better for them when Jubilee Line on Underground completed. ND also now chairman of SFA - office at Cotton Centre London Bridge, not far from Cabot Square - not so vital now to be in centre of City. About business lunches in the City - mentions his favourite places. Lists his various titles in the business since Big Bang.
