  • Abstract

Part 4 (tape 2 side B): Staying with relatives in Montagu Square - took him to Madame Tussaud's or Imperial War Museum - always somewhere interesting. Describes grandma's flat in Wynstay Gardens. His attitude to various trips away from home. Memorable trip to spend day with family called Parker-Tomkinson at Knockholt - frightened and cried until mum came to take him home. Also daunting experience later getting from Briancon to St Anton in Austria by himself. Admits to gaining some self-confidence as a result. About visits to Lisbon where family of his Stowe friend, Patrick Dawson, lived - different side of life - many visits to museums and art galleries.
