  • Description

Recording notes : In the words of the sound recordist "On the Kondas, the northmost of the Halastâo Fish Ponds, these being man-made marshes of great extent. Across the water the scene is open and wild. The sun is still rising on the clean, new day, and a thousand voices are at the recordist's disposal. Prominent amongst these are Great Reed Warblers, Cuckoos and a close Sedge Warbler. The marsh teems with life and sports a riot of song and calls. A deer barks nearby, and Common Cranes set up a commotion of whooping, sounding excited and unruly. The Great Reed Warblers grate on. After a while the marsh seems to quieten as though settling down to the stillness of the coming day."
