    Long-tailed Tit, Aegithalos caudatus

  • Description

An example of the call of the long-tailed tit recorded at Camberley, Surrey. This species of tit is probably the most recognisable due to its extremely long tail, rotund body and distinctive colouring. It is found throughout the British Isles except in the most northern areas of Scotland and is most likely to inhabit woodland, scrubland, and hedgerows. Long-tailed tits are becoming an increasingly common sight in gardens, particularly if the garden attracts other tit species and it can be identified by its high ‘see see see’ call and ‘tsirrup’ trill.
