Abstract
Part 3: [Session two: 15 June 2009[16:25] Advice NA has just given to Jason JH, who is printing a plate for a sculptor in NA’s downstairs workshop. NC is editioning work NA has in 2009 Royal Academy [RA] Summer Exhibition, mainly images west of Ireland plus one image of North York moors (Sutton Bank) under snowfall. NA stays with friend in Thirsk, first visited north York moors and dales as a child; details of making snow image of Sutton Bank. Perspective of the surface of the ocean. Reference to Radio 4 programme ‘Something Understood’. Perspective of landscape, abstraction. (8:54) Classical subject matter for human beings is human condition; understanding people who have lived in landscape before; importance of knowing history. Horizon of city; surface of water. Details work hanging across beam in room of recording; smaller, different image of Sutton Bank; five images are finished – topiary garden from Knockando House on river Spey, one from Skelig series, gannets.
