    Evelyn recalls Cutteslowe in the 1930s and talks about the infamous wall that was erected to divide an area of middle class housing from an area of council housing. Cutteslowe, Wolvercote and Summertown are all suburbs at the northern extremity of Oxford. The Friars is the name used locally for an area in the centre of Oxford.
