Speaker's note: Aged 27 and from County Wexford, Ireland (now Republic of Ireland). Born 23 December 1889. Until the war always lived in Wexford. Was educated at a Board School in Wexford. In the army since the age of 17. Both mother and father from Wexford. Can read and write in English. Cannot play a musical instrument or sing. Religion: Roman catholic. Occupation: merchant seaman. Item note: Edward reads the Parable of the Prodigal Son (taken from Luke chapter XV, verse 11-32).
