    Part 2 (tape 1 side B): MJ liked to read, collect stamps, work with his hands. Eva Jenkins, paternal grandmother, started him on music lessons, piano and trumpet. To Tonbridge School - head of house, school games, music; awarded Exhibition to Merton College, Oxford. National Service 195l-53: a gunner, spent l5 months in Egypt, where he led an idle life and read a lot. Merton 1953-56: read law, since fed up with reading history and English.
