User notes for this item
The title (more properly spelled Ekinimba n'okwevuga) means 'Ekinimba (flute) and recitation. The ekinimba is a long two-holed deeply notched flute made from the flower stalk of the Giant Lobelia - a rain forest shrub - and a popular instrument once among the (ba)Kiga. 'Okwevuga' to perform a special kind of recitation (often on historic or epic subjects though sometimes familial also) delivered with a high loud voice at top speed - a genre common to both Bakiga and Banyankore. It is customary for the audience to vocally applaud at the end by crying out 'Eee!'
