  • Abstract

Molly Pinch talks about how her husband always supported her involvement in the local traditions, nor was he a ‘Mayer’, not involved with the Hobby Horse. Lots of children used to have little oss’s, favourite carols are ‘Softly the night’ [Roud Folk Song Index No. 1222] and ‘Jesse’ [Roud Folk Song Index No. 8362] and. The time when they sang ‘Softly the night’ to the dying lady. Looking forward to going to Sheffield, have one run through of the carols before going up there. But have to be back by 6.00 for the church service then on to turning on the lights, middle street old persons home then on to Church St, Ruthy’s Lane and Punion. Punion is one of the places where the ‘old people’ always sang.
