Abstract
Chillingford air crash, the New Zealand pilot later married Isabel Wood, now sheep farmers in New Zealand. Names of evacuees. Blackouts and gas masks. Sign posts removed and cars used as road barriers. Village postmen and their runs. Jean Frost was in charge of the village run. Mrs McKintosh used to run keep fit classes. Anecdote about a group of them pretending to be a ghost during her classes ‘frightened the girls to death’, they did this twice and the second time had to run away from the local policeman.
