  • Abstract

Looked after the village hall for 5 years. It was in a shambles when she first came across it. Very few of the locals were willing to muck in initially. Husband died in 1977. She was in charge of the hall from 1979-84. Mr Gore was a very good secretary. People could pay very little to hire the hall. She had to get the curtains fire-proofed. All very ‘make do and mend’. The Badminton club and the playgroup were regular features. WI met once a month there were also jumble sales and wedding receptions. People that helped with the drainage.
