Abstract
Anecdotes and tales: Apparitions made by natural causes. His aunt going out to frighten a drunk by pretending to be a ghost and getting hit over the head. Story of why pigeons build flat nests. Anecdote about how they used to attach a string to the young pigeons in their nest so that they couldn’t fly away. Local name for young pigeons was ‘squeakers’, tame pigeons ‘homer’ and wood pigeons ‘quists’. When out shooting you only shot ‘quists’.
