Abstract
Favourite place for capturing starlings was at the laurel hedges. Capturing rabbits and buying pigeons as well for the shoots. About fifteen people would enter the rabbit shoot at 6d each, whatever you killed was considered your property. Pagewood, the gunsmith from Bristol would often be the judge. Rules of the shoot. It was his job to pull the string on the traps. Most of the men still had muzzle loaded guns. Breech loading rifles were still very expensive and only a few had them. You had to watch what you killed in case someone else took them. [badly deteriorated tape, very poor sound, interview continued on C1033/111]
