Item notes: Harold Wirdnam gives examples of words put to the tunes of bugle calls ('Get out of bed' and 'Come to the cookhouse door boys') and talks about regimental marches in Bangalore; the 'lights out' bugle call; the 'retreat' bugle calls (hums tunes). Performer notes: Joined the Wiltshire Regiment in 1934, served for eight years in India from 1936.
