Abstract
George Hurst talks about Louis Brown of Burton Bradstock who used to sing 'A nutting we will go' (Roud Folksong Index No. 509) and 'The cobbler's song' ['Fagin the cobbler'] (Roud Folksong Index No. 872). Can't read music. Learning songs. Verse of 'The threshing machine' that he used to sing in the Army to the words 'Way down in Alberto where the cowpats lie thick', he often used to 'stick in me own words', parody songs.
