Description
Item note: Kiganda royal praise song in Baakisimba rhythm. Performance note: Mpuunyi drum not well played and of too high a pitch. Two baaksimba drums and two Nankasa drums used (a newish style imported brom Kooki district). Ssempeke asks the name of the song and is told something slightly different. Performer's note: This was the only group at the palace which was allowed to play for me. Fatuma Nabuunya (Engeye clan) - soloist. Recording note: Mono recording only (left channel). Recordist's note: In Peter Cooke's notes, this is PCUG94.7.7 (pgm 34).
