Description
Performance note: In Kigisu style ie the Soga imitation of drumming of the Bagisu (bamasaba), followed by kinyole style. Then Peter Cooke asks if there are words to these rhythms. Drummer gives some of the phrases in Lusoga (eg. When the Gods are calling, please come quickly. Byekwaso Maganda gives words and drums play the equivalent. "Each drum "speaks what it talks". Different phrases addressed to Kintu are given. Performer's note: Byekwaso Maganda is a traditional healer of great repute from Bunhyiro. Recording note: Tape runs out before end of item. Recorded at 3 3/4 ips, recorded on video. Recordist's note: In Peter Cooke's notes, this is PCUG88.8.10 - 8.12.
