Description
Item note: Innanga zither song. Announced as item 27. Kiyovu said the abaseengo (cone-flute ensemble) also played for Nyindo. Performance note: Sung in a mixture of Runyarwanda and Rutwa. Can be used for the entoore dance. Idiosyncratic style. (Compare it with Rujindiri). Performer's note: Nyindo was the son of Musinga, the King of Rwanda who was sent him to rule over Bufumbira county (until banished by the British). Kiyovu had also sung for Musinga also at times. Now retired and living on the slopes of Bufumbira mountain. Former Omutwa singer at the court of 'King' Nyindo t Urwasabahizi. Recording note: Recorded at 3 3/4 ips. Recordist's note: In Peter Cooke's notes, this is PCUG64-8.29.A12 [announced as no. 27].
