Item note: Traditional endara song. This was reported as being the only xylophone in Bwamba county. Kept at Kakuka. This particular instrument was two years old. Key number eight was eight years old. For a diagram of endara see Peter Cooke file in Sound Archive office. Performance note: This recording features three engoma (and stick on drum, but not in this case), two dancers, one endara xylophone. Performer's note: Three men playing on drums plus two dancers accompanied the xylophone. These men learned from their fathers. Men from Kakuka. Recordist's note: In Peter Cooke's notes, this is on TAPE PC 11, TRACK A, item no. 7.

Documentation should be modified to read: Performance note: three players on a 9-stave xylophone (one performer sitting on the 10th stave since it was not needed for this song), one medium size engoma ('Uganda drum' - hand beaten) plus an assistant tapping rhythms on the rim of the drum with two sticks. Further rhythms provided by two 'dancers' each with bells strapped below their right knee. Analytical recordings follow the song performance with pauses between. These unidentified performers came from Kakuka village and had learned from their fathers. Recordist's note:- Item no. PCUG1964-8.11.7. Colour photo available.
