  • Description

    Musical prelude to the evening prayer Aarti of the Meqwar community in the Banni village Hodka. The Meqwar are Hindus and speak Kachchi language (north Indian language group). The musicians (all male) are: Gagan Bharmal, Meghaji Bhasar, Bhura Khaja, Dhanaji Bhasar, Leela Phota, and Dahya Phota. The instruments are: shell conch (shankh), bell (ghanta), and the horizontally played drum (dholak).
