Item note: Bugarabu music performed by Ndongo Kujabi and Aliu Kujabi; recorded in Aran Kolikunda / Arongkoli Kunda, around 10:30pm - midnight, The Gambia, 1982.01.05 [singing, drumming with jingles on wrists of drummer, long wooden blocks]. ["The Jola dance to the bugarabu, a set of three or four large drums played by a single person with bare hands usually wearing jingles on his wrists, often accompanied by women clapping long wooden blocks" - www.grovemusic.com]. [Jola is also know as Diola-Fogny, Dyola, Jóola, Jola and Yola].
