Description:
Brian recounts his childhood experiences of wartime Norwich. Rackheath is a village just to the northeast of Norwich. The V1 (also known as the doodle-bug or buzz bomb) was a German World War II jet-propelled, pilotless monoplane carrying a one-ton warhead. From June 1944 onwards over 9,000 V1 missiles were launched at southeast England. The V2 rocket was a more powerful, long-range missile first used in September 1944. The B29 (also known as the Superfortress) refers to the US World War II strategic bomber that made its maiden flight in 1942.
