        <dc:description>Mr. Hodza explains that men and women have different ways of clapping to nhetembu poetry. Mr. Hodza explains that the women clap with a hollow palm; the hands cross over each other (rather finger tip to finger tip), with the right hand on top of the left. He explains that there is a second type of clapping called 'Nhondo' (the documentation does not provide the actual spelling). This second style is used by men, and is produced by hitting the hands together, with a flat palm, finger tip to finger tip. The third style is called 'Kusi' (the documentation does not provide the actual spelling), and is also used by men. This style is produced by hitting the hands together with a hollow palm, finger tip to finger tip. Rycroft asks Mr Hodza to demonstrate these three styles. This recording was dubbed by Rycroft in use as an example in his paper on South African praise poetry (Rycroft, D.,1980, 'The question of metre in South African praise poetry', Wentzel, J. P (Ed.)
