Their voices are accompanied by clapping. This is a song sung at a girl's father's house when she reaches puberty. If the father is pleased with his daughter he will hold a public initiation ceremony called an ukwemula ceremony in her honour. The song is accompanied by ukunqukuza (hand clapping). Once the song is sung the father slaughters and ox and a goat in her honour and pours the gall from the goat on the girls head and attaches the gall -bladder to her. The people at the gathering eat much meat and drink beer (Rycroft, D.,1975, Bulletin of the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, Vol 38, No 2, 354).
