        <dc:description>This recording includes extracts of from the solo guitar improvisation 'Masanga' played by the Congolese guitarist, Mwenda Jean Bosco. This recording is taken from a tape in Rycroft's collection labelled 'Guitar Talk Tape B' this recording is a dubbing of the original recording made in Jadotville town in the Katanga provice of Congo (present day Democratic Republic of Congo). The recording was made by Hugh Tracey in 1952 and was later published by Gallotone: (GALLOTONE GB 1586 T). These recorded extracts were a part of an analysis provided by Rycroft in documentation that accompanied the tape. The analysis provided is as followw: a) Themes; b) Pendular 3rds, duple groups; c) Root progression GDAF-G; d) Theme - listen to bass; e) 1st bass solo, duple stressing beats 2 and 4 (phrase shifts) ; f) Theme and 2nd bass solo 2 + 3 + 3. C-G harmony g) Theme- seesaw,  treble against bass FC-FG - repeat of 1st bass solo - theme- pendular 3rds  (but never exact repetition: metamorphosis / transformation)</dc:description>
