Performance note: This recording features Omukuri (flute); Endingiri; Ensaasi (or oburengo); Engoma; foot stamps; Amajugo (bells). The song is sung in pure Runyankore though the music originates perhaps in Bunyoro. The flute, known as omukuri, is the same as endere in Luganda. The ensaasi, now known in Runyankore by this Luganda name instead of the typical name 'oburengo', are made by inserting small stones in an empty condensed milk tin. Amajugo are small bells made of iron. (according to Peter Cooke this sounds very like Orunyege music of Tooro). Recordist's note: In Peter Cooke's notes, this is on TAPE PC 8, TRACK A, item no. 21.
