  • Description

    The song of the yellowhammer recorded on Marden Common, Devon. The typical song of this is species is often described as sounding a bit like the bird is saying ‘a-little-bit-of-bread-with-no-cheeeeeese’, whereas the call is a sharp ‘zit’ sound. Found across the UK, this species is not as abundant as it used to be and has now been placed on the UK Biodiversity Action Plan. The males are easily identified by their bright yellow head and under parts and are often seen boldly perched on top of a bush singing.
