Description
Jean Barbour trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She went into Stars in Battledress at the end of the Second World War, where she met her first husband Peter Barbour. She appeared in The Dancing Years before joining Peter and his brother Roy in their act of Stilt Dancing Puppeteers. They worked extensively worldwide, appearing on television numerous times including the Ed Sullivan Show in America and The Royal Command Performance in England. After Roy left the act, Jean and Peter continued working until Jean retired in 1975. Their daughter Sue replaced her in the act and worked with Peter until 1998 when he retired.
