Part 5. v war service (continued); impact of the Second World War on Michael Kidner's (MK) family; his sister-in-laws psychoanalysis and later life in Ruanda. MK's demobilisation and time as schoolteacher at Pitlochry; his growing interest in painting and visits to the south of France. MK's enrolment at Goldsmith's College to study painting; his meeting with John Coplans; remarks on Denis Bowen and American Abstract Expressionism. Discussion of MK's interest in art history, his own painting and his visits to Provence at this time.
