Description
Performer notes : Philippe Garner is best known as Sotheby's expert on photography. He pioneered photography in the auction-houses of the world in the early 1970s. He is also an expert on art nouveau and art deco, an enthusiastic and knowledgeable collector of fine photographs in his own right, and a prolific writer on fashion photography. His most dramatic sale of photographs was the Helene Anderson sale of avant-garde photography of the 1920s, held in Spring in 1997.
