Item notes: Interview by Frene Ginwalla with Mr S.V. Mtambanegwe [Mutambanengwe] and Mr P Mtandwa, both of the Zimbabwe African National Union (ZAPU), about the political situation in Southern Rhodesia following Ian Smith's election as Prime Minister and during one of his attempts to persuade the British Government to grant independence, before Smith announced the Unilateral Declaration of Independence (UDI) on November 11, 1965.
