Speaker's note: Aged 23 from Swinton (near Rotherham), Yorkshire, England. Born 26 December 1893 in Swinton. Eductaed at an elementary school in Swinton. Joined the army aged 15 and posted to Ireland, China and England. Both parents from Swinton. Father was an engineer in a coal mine. Can read and write in English. Religion: Protestant. Occupation: soldier (trumpet player). Item note: Albert reads the Parable of the Prodigal Son (taken from Luke chapter XV, verse 11-32).
