Speaker's note: Aged 33 and from Blantyre, Lanarkshire (now South Lanarkshire), Scotland. Born on 19 February 1884 in Blantyre. Always lived in Blantyre. Educated at a Public school in Blantyre. Hid father came from Dundoland and his mother from Glasgow. He can read and write in English and Scottish. Lists Scottish as his mothertongue. Religion: Protestant. Occupation: pedler. Item note: James reads the Parable of the Prodigal Son (taken from Luke chapter XV, verse 11-32).
